Derek Tuohy - PT, MTC, CSCS
Derek has been involved in sports medicine and sports conditioning since 1995 working as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach for high school, collegiate and professional athletes. He earned his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in 1999. Derek graduated Summa Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA in 1999 with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. Pursuing his interest in the skill of manual physical therapy, Derek studied spinal and extremity manipulation under Dr. Stanley Paris and the University of St. Augustine, receiving his Manual Therapy Certification (MTC) in 2004. Derek received his level 1 Functional Dry Needling certification in 2017. Most recently, Derek has been pursuing his interest in lower extremity biomechanics through post-graduate courses; specifically how it relates to skiing, biking and running. His treatment philosophy utilizes a combination of his manual therapy skills and functional / sports based exercise to assist his clients in achieving their goals.
Erin Fusting - DPT
Erin moved to Telluride in 2003 prior to becoming a physical therapist. She trained horses and instructed riders of all ages. She moved to New Zealand in 2008 for a year and guided horse treks around Mount Cook on the South Island. After months of thought and volunteering at the adaptive riding center in Ridgway, CO she decided to go back to school for Physical Therapy. She graduated from the University of New England in Portland, Maine with a Doctorate of Physical therapy in 2018. She has worked with patients of all ages with various surgeries, sports related injuries, burns, and amputations. Erin is certified in level 1 and 2 lumbar spinal manipulation from NAIOMT, level 1 Pelvic floor/women's health from Herman and Wallace, and has taken continuing education courses in acl rehab and concussion management. She also received her Level 1 Functional Dry Needling certification. Erin enjoys hiking, skiing, biking, surfing, and horseback riding. She is dedicated to getting patient's back to their passions and reaching their personal goals.
Laura Homer - MPT, OCS
Laura earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Northern Arizona University in 1998. She began with a degree in Music Education and taught and performed before choosing physical therapy school. She has been living and practicing in Telluride since 1998 with a focus on sports and orthopedic therapy. She has a level II certification with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy and became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) in 2005.
Nicole Stone-Lankes - CSCS, FMS
Nicole has been involved in the fitness industry for over 20 years, receiving her first personal training certificate at 18 years old from a very accredited institute (Coopers Institute of Aerobic Research, Dallas, TX). She then continued on her journey and completed a degree in Kinesiology, with a minor in psychology, from the University of North Texas. Following college Nicole continued her education and received an educational certificate in biomechanics from C.I.A.R and also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Most recently, Nicole became a Level 1- FMS Coach (Foundational Movement Skills) and is currently continuing her educational journey to become a Certified Endurance Specialist and a Level 1- Exercise Coach through the Paul Chek Institute. "My education has evolved my training philosophy. I focus on analyzing a client's body asymmetries, addressing the asymmetry and correcting it through correctional exercises before implementing a strength and conditioning routine. This allows a client to maximize their activity performance while limiting their potential for injury."
